GetClicky - MyReview
February 13, 2008 by Balaji
I was looking for ways to collect information about the visitors to my blog and found Clicky Web Analytics. I have tried a lot of products like ClusterMaps or SiteMeter and was not impressed by the way the data was presented to us. I found GetClicky to be more attractive than other providers. The dashboard provides a comprehensive data in a easy-to-use, rich and effective AJAX interface.
The registration is a one step procedure and installation is even more easier. GetClicky provides a simple image based tracking and also JavaScript based tracking code enabling us to track both service hosted sites and self hosted sites. But the image based tracking has a limitation, where it does not have the detail collected with Javascript tracking code. Excluding own visits to the site is done by enabling a Cookie, but the drawback of this options is that we need to do it every time we delete the cookies. It also allows us to name visitors based on IP Addresses. It provides extensive information on the Network Location Profile of a visitor which is very good, it even provides the domain name of the visitor which is not available on Google Analytics.
The best part about this site is it ability to overlay the visitors based on their locations on Google Maps. We see a placeholder from the location where the user had logged in from and clicking that placeholder gives the an option to view that user session. It also provides an option to track your FeedBurner stats from the Admin page.
You get a 21 day free trial of the Professional service after which you can register to continue using their Professional service or you will automatically be switched to a free plan with limited features.
I would rate it 3 out of 5 - for the fact that this is a paid service.

Nice review. I however find that something like GoStats meets my needs better as it seems more accurate and overall useful than clicky.
Hi - there’s no doubt that GetClicky is a great product… we just wanted to ‘beam in’ to emphasize that ClustrMaps is aimed at an entirely different (and complementary) niche: we’re all about the ’simple getalt’ rather than the detailed stats, and of course if you need detailed stats you need one of the more powerful tools, as you have rightly described. Our motto is “impossibly many dots in an impossibly small space, all impossibly fast”.
Overlaying pushpins on Google Maps is something we tried and rejected, because it does not scale up in the same way that our clustering algorithm can handle literally millions of dots on our big world maps. ClustrMaps is more suited for those who like to display the ‘badge’ showing visitors-at-a-glance to their readership, and is clearly not for everyone.
Anyway, we just wanted to clarify that… if you’re interested, we could let you have the ClustrMaps+ variant to experiment with at no charge… just drop us a note.
All best wishes,
-CJ on behalf of the ClustrMaps Team
