I did something new and I want to share it with you all guys/girls, can’t stop myself. This is the time where most of us file our income tax returns with the deadline (July 31, 2009) nearing. Many of my colleagues and friends had paid anything between Rs. 100 to 250 to consultants or Chartered Accountants to file to returns and slog behind them to get their ITR acknowledgement.
I decided to do something different from my colleagues and friends. I decided to file my returns online and was looking for ways to do it and you know what? I did that already. Let me tell you how to do that, it’s real easy. The Controller of Certifying Authority in India has authorized few companies to issue Digitial Certificates to Individuals and Companies. There are eight of them and I decided to go with eMudhra, I felt their pricing was good enuf for us to use. There are three different classes of Certificates and you may compare them in this link. To file returns, we can go with Class 2 Certificates and they cost only Rs. 212 for two years with which you can file returns for 3 years. Thinking how, you take it now… you can use it for this year, next year and also the year later. That’s saving lot of money and time. Check out the things you need to do to get your certificate and file your returns.
Fill the form, Affix your photograph and sign it accross.
Attach self attested copy of your goverment issued identity and address proofs.
Go to http://www.e-mudhra.com/ and check for your Registering Authority in your city from the Locate Us section.
Go to your RAs office and submit the filled application.
You’ll get an email with the instructions on how to download the certificates within a day or two. Download them.
Go to https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and register with your PAN Card Number and the Digital Certificate (Make sure that Java is installed on your machine. Uploading your signature requires Java)
Go to Forms Page in the eFiling site and download the form applicable for you.
Fill the form and generate the XML file. You will file the instructions in the Forms page.
Login to the eFiling site and hilite ‘Select Assessment Year’ under Submit Return section in the LHP and select the appropriate assessment year.
Fill the required info and upload the XML file and the Digital Signature.
Click Submit and you get the Acknowledgement instantaneously.
The password for your ITR Ack will be your PAN Card no. followed by your date of birth. eg. xxxxxxxxxxddmmyyyy
One thing that you need to note is that these Digital Signatures are as good as your signature. Make sure you preserve the cerficate file real safe. Comment if you have any questions. I’ll try to answer them for ya.
I got an SMS today from “TM-BPQ” with text “You have 1 new bpq voicemail, call +447559047036″. I have registered my phone number with too many sites and online apps which I dont use always. I was too curious to find out who sent this SMS and made the call to check the voicemail. The message claimed that I won $2500 cash prize followed by a survey, I grew suspicious over the duration of the call and did some Googling (should’ve done this first) to find out that the message was some sort of scam. Poor me, already lost around 70 bucks (that’s 10 mins call to UK).
Wondering how would Airtel permit the scamster to send such anonymous SMSs. Will Airtel get any share from the scamster? If they do, then it’s illegal and if they don’t it’s still illegal to send such anonymous message. I am going to initiate a complaint with Airtel regarding this and i’ll keep you posted if I get any response from them.
Update: Guys, I had written to the Nodal Officer – Airtel Hyderabad and I got a call from them today (April 13, 2009). The lady I spoke to informed that the origin of this SMS seems to be from internet. I requested them to dig down to find out how could they send such messages from unknown number. She said she will have the technical team research and will get back to me on this.
It’s going to be an year since we had our last bloggers’ meet here in Hyderabad. Many bloggers met at the Microsoft Campus on the March 1st which was jointly conducted my MS and Indiblogger. I see that Bangalore, the first destination of Indiblogger meet is having their second Indiblogger meet this weekend. So, What do you think? Should we in Hyderabad have another meet?
I felt like reading a classic poem and looked for this phrase “Miles to go before I sleep” and found this beautiful poem by Robert Frost which I once read in school. I thought I should share this and here it is….
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there’s some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
I was browsing through news online and was amused to see the ad from Google below. Ad of BJP, a major Indian political party, wonder how much money do they pay per click
BJP gets hi-tech
I guess political parties are now concentrating in attracting the people who’ve never been to polling booths before. It’s nice to see the change happening, hope they show some change in the way they work too. Good Luck Advani sir, you got to try really hard to convince us to get our votes I guess we will soon see twitter, facebook, orkut, youtube channel accounts soon.
As everyone else, I was shocked to hear the news about Ramalinga Raju. It is obvious that everyone will be angry with the magnititude of the scandal, but I was thinking of the emotional part of Raju. Satyam is his child which he has brought up from zero to what it is today, a BRAND in the Indian IT industry. Son of a farmer from Bhimavaram, AP, India bulding an enterprise which is listed NYSE, centainly a wonderful achievement and he is one of a kind entrepreneur. A name which he has built over years is now shattered with this news.
I was watching the news last night and I see everyone criticizing for what has happened, I understand that it is not right. Satyam has shaped the careers of many and is still continuing to do so, ridiculing the company further when in pain will only worsen the situation and create panic amongst investors, pulic and mainly employees. There are 53000 of them who needs hope and support, it does take some time to rebuild the brand value but there has to be some time given to them to do it. It is not that no company existed after a scandal like this, it isn’t the first time it is happening in this world.
I felt sorry for Raju though he committed one of the worst mistakes of Corporate India. It is his empire which he built over years and how hard it would be for him to digest the fact that Satyam is being ripped from BSE, NIFTY, NYSE. It is now with the new management to build the hope.
Let’s see what’s going to happen. It is not over yet, it all just started!
I was going through ibnlive.com and found two errors in one shot, what’s wrong with those guys? Must be tired of breaking too many news. Check out the below attached images for the errors. I wish WIPRO had the money to buy a company worth $127bn. Imagine Osama administering the US, I think that’s a great idea. There won’t be any terrorism in this world*
Aamir Khan has released a 1 min promo of his upcoming film Ghanjini today. I think many of you will be eager to watch this trailer. For those die hard Aamir Khan fans…

Motorola has launched its new mobile A810 in India with an excellent and funny commercial. Most people would obviously laugh at this commercial for it’s nice wit Even a college professor will If you haven’t seen this one yet, here it is.
While most people will laugh at the guy who’s played the main role, i am not sure how many noticed the girl behind him. Her reaction is just FANTASTIC, I am her fan I am sure even you will be if you look at her.
Most Indian news dailys, news channels and websites flashed Gilchrist’s negative views on Sachin Tendulkar from his upcoming Biography. Everyone reacted with comments accusing Gilchrist the same day including few BCCI officials. This is yet another sensationalization by the Indian media and I guess they’ll some talk shows with this topic
Sachin is an ethical player and we all know that and why should we be carried over with what Gilchrist says. There are people who say that Mahatma Gandhi is a bad person and it’s just their opinion, why should we ever argue with them about their opinion. No two people are the same and not everyone carries the same views on anything. Why don’t we just take it light instead of arguing or accusing him?
All views expressed , explicitly and in a few cases implicitly in this blog by me are wholly an expression of my personal opinion on things that interest me. In no way, does it reflect the views of the company that I work with or any of its subsidiaries.
This is just a space where I sulk when in boredom and rejoice when in satisfaction with life! In the uneventful case that you feel offended by any of the opinions expressed herein, please do walk away thinking that you've just come across a person from a different world alien to your culture. My opinions remain solely mine and I see no point in someone forcefully trying to juxtapose or manipulate their views with mine.
